David's Story
Life
After graduation I went to UC Berkeley and was happy to spend a lot of time there with AHS friends. I shared an apartment with Desmond Chin for a few months, then with Martin Calderon, then with Luis Ah. Darryl Lee hung out with Luis, so he was over at times. We saw Ray Amaguin skating around campus after he transferred in. I dated Julia Lee, AHS class of 90, until after graduating from UCB in 92.
Despite my many charms, my first med school application was rejected by all of the CA schools, prompting me to do two years of research at Stanford, working 100 hours a week, while living with my parents and much younger siblings. omance, we were married in the summer of 98, giving us time for a brief honeymoon before my first real job started - pediatric training at Kaiser Oakland.
Fearing but craving parenthood, we adopted an adorable white and apricot colored toy poodle puppy in 99, named him Romeo, and loved him dearly until he was killed by a coyote in our backyard in 03.
We moved to Claremont in 01 so that I could continue training in child neurology at Loma Linda Medical Center. I finished the fellowship in 04 and joined the staff, serving since 05 as the program director.
Taipai and I now have three amazing children, Sophia, born October 02, Noah born September 03, and Toby born November 05. We adopted another toy poodle, Peetie, in 03.
Sophie wants a cat, a pony, and a baby sister, but Taipai and I plan to leave things as is for now.
