David's Story
After graduating, attended Ball STate for two years and almost literally partied my brains out, transferred to DePauw and barely managed to graduate with what brains were left. Taught school in an Episcopal Church program in Puerto Cortes, Honduras for two years, came back and got a job at the New-Dispatch for three years, left to become a world famous war correspondent in Nicaragua, got sick instead and returned. Got a job copywriting catalogs and working PR for Starcraft in Goshen for a few years, left for a job in Arizona for a year (hating every minute of every day), got married there to an Indiana girl, came back to the Midwest and had a house at Shavehead Lake near Union, Michigan. Freelanced as a writer and photographer mostly fishing and RV stuff for 11 years, then in 1999 got my current job as editor of Great Lakes Angler Maga...Expand for more
zine. Somewhere about four years ago I got divorced and two years ago remarried. No kids of my own (and not going to add "that I know about") but my bride has three, one of whom is 13 and lives with us in Niles, Michigan. Planning a move to Paw Paw, Michigan in the near future.
That's sums up my life with about five minutes worth of writing. I'm also a Christian and enjoy attending a bible church in nearby Berrien Center, Michigan. Like my work although the job, like most, sucks from time to time. Also fish a lot, hunt as much as possible with two fairly well trained golden retrievers, which is what I brought to the marital mix. We now have five dogs, eight cats, a parakeet, an Oscar fish, two rats, three geese, four chickens, a Muscovy duck (named Little Dave) and a rabbit. We plan on adding a goat and a mule when we move.
