David's Story

Life Hello everyone! I am writing this Bio 15 years after my last one in 2002. It is now November, 2017!!! I just became aware of the upcoming East - West 50th Reunion in July of 2018. So exciting!!! 50 years ago we were all teenagers! Can you believe that? The first week after graduation I was working in Elmira, NY at Hardinge Brothers, a very good manufacturing plant. It was a great company but then we had the recession in the early 70's. Because of downsizing I was laid off. At that time I decided to follow my call to study for the ministry. I attended a 3 year Bible Intitute in East Providence, RI. After graduating in 1974 I served as Youth Pastor in Abington, MA for 4 years where I met my wife Debby. It was a wonderful time in my life of spiritual enrichment. In 1978, after the birth of our first daughter, Rebekah we moved to Richmond Hill, Queens, NY where I was installed as Assistant Pastor. After 2 more years we moved to Massena, NY to Pastor at Bethel Assembly of God. In Massena two more daughters were added to our family, Karen Joy and Denise. I am wearing a shirt today that says, "I've Been Blessed." Life is not always kind to us along the way but I try to be grateful for the many blessings that can be found when we look for them. I continued in the ministry until the mid 80's. At that time I chose to go back into secular work. For 30 years I worked my trade as a machinist which I discovered ...Expand for more
in High School in the BOCES program. 1991 was a very low point in my life. After what I thought was the all-American family my wife and I were divorced. Miraculously my ex wife and I were able to get through the anger and go on with our lives. I can truthfully say today that we are very good friends. I honestly believe that It was because of our forgiving one another that our three children were able to cope with the scars of divorce. We are so proud of them. Two of them are missionaries. Becky serves in Romania and Karen works in El Salvador. My youngest daughter, Denise is the mother of our three beautiful grandkids. Half jokingly I told my daughter, Denise not to become a missionary. We need her to stay home!!! Lol Two years ago in December, 2015 I retired at 66. Retirement has been everything I hoped for!!! It is a great life. I hope I can truly enjoy the golden years for however long I am on this earth until I go on to my eternal reward!!! My life is busy. Singing at the church, I discovered that talent in my early 20's. Visiting my grandchildren as often as I can. I love to see their smiles and hear their laughter when I walk through the door. I get to play my favorite hobby, Golf. What a game!!! Did I mention I have lived in New England for 35 years, North Attleboro, MA to be percise. Not far from Providence, RI. New England is a great place to live. So many sites, unless you are a Yankees or Giants fan!!!
