David's Story
Life
Finally retired from the Navy after 26 years on 1 August 2009. I guess it's finally time to grow up, quit playing and go get a real job. I loved every minute of my Navy career and would do it over again in a heartbeat. But it's time to stay home, work a regular kind of job, work in my garden and my yard and take care of my family.
I've been married for 21 years. We have a son, 32 (adopted), and a daughter, 15. Our home is in Chesapeake, VA.
I will be working for AMSEC/Northrop Grummand, as an instructor at the Navy's Maintenance University.
Military
I spent 26 years in the Navy. I enlisted as...Expand for more
a Gunner's Mate in June 1983. As a Gunner's Mate, I was assigned to the USS Iowa BB-61, USS Richard L. Page FFG-5, USS Thomas C. Hart FF-1092, Special Boat Unit 20, USS Platte AO-186 and NAB Little Creek. I was commissioned as a Chief Warrant Officer in April 1998, and did a tour on the USS John F. Kennedy CV-67, Atlantic Ordnance Command, Det Sewells Point. I spent 3 1/2 years as the Systems Test Officer (STO) onboard USS Donald Cook (DDG-75), and finished at Special Boat Team 20.
The Navy was definitely an interesting life. It keeps you going, and never slows down. I loved every second of my career.
