David's Story

Life Like most of you, I've come a long way after high school. In 1978 I entered into Mercer County Community College, only to quit after a semester to enlist in the Marines in 1979. From 1982 to 1983 I served in Lebanon, then went to Grenada. After surviving that, I got out of the Marines in 1984. In 1985 I met Lucy Gibbs, who just graduated from the University of South Carolina. We got married in 1986. In 1987 we moved to CA and I went into Law Enforcement. I worked for Colton Police dept, for a short while, and then I moved to VA in 89 to work at the Pentagon as a Federa...Expand for more
l Police Officer, assigned to the Emergency Services Team (SWAT) team. In 96 my wife Lucy and I had a baby girl, Cathy born on our 10th wedding anniversary. In 1998 I moved to GA transferring my job to Atlanta, still working as a Federal Police Officer. For two years I was on the Motorcycle Squad. In 2001 I was promoted to Inspector. In 2002 my agency was merged into the now, U.S. Department of Homeland Security. Not in my wildest dreams would I have believed in high school that I would of had the life that I have now! I truly have moved a long way from my high school life.
