David's Story

Life Hi. Thanks for looking. I am currently 59. Although I did not graduate from KPHS, I got my GED the same year most of you graduated(1974). I currently live in Kill Devil Hills, North Carolina. The same one that The Weather Channel shows every time a hurricane nears the eastern coast. I have been married since 1982, and have 2 sons, Thomas, 23 and Stephen, 20. We came to live on the Outer Banks after vacationing here for several years at my in laws house. We moved here in 1996 and had a house built about 3 city blocks from the beach in 1997. My wife is an accountant/ controller, and I am a distribution / delivery person for a large graphics company. My son, Thomas is currently in school, studying to become a police officer, and my son Stephen graduated from high school and is currently working at a HVAC company. I weighed about 175 in high school, and now I weigh about 220. I had to retire from playing ice and roller hockey with my son Tom, because I developed arthritis in both of my hips. I had the left one "replaced" in march of 2006, and the right one replaced in Feb. of 2007.It is a relief to walk without pain. My boys and I "fool around" with our cars a lot. We are in a local car club that has events to raise money for charity. I have a 2004 Corvette and a 95 Camaro Z28 along with a 97 Chevy S10. My son Tom has a 99 Camaro SS, and my other son Stevehas ...Expand for more
a 94 Z28. My wife drives a 2003 Chrysler Sebring convertible.( I could'nt get her to get a Camaro ragtop) If anyone reading this can't place me at W.A. Mozart, that 's OK. I was always goofing off and getting in trouble for missed assignments and being a clown. I was very bored with school. My desk was usually somewhere near the teacher's desk. On a personal note,to anyone that I did not treat properly,I must send out a heartfelt apology. I sometimes think about the grammer school years and wish I could have a "do over" for many reasons. After flunking out of KPHS(bored with school again), I bounced around to a few jobs in Chicago, and after a few plant closings and layoffs, we decided to move to a warmer area. I met my wife through her sister,at a job at W.F. Hall Printing Company on Diversey Avenue. My family still lives in Chicago. It consists of my remaining siblings, brother Dan and my sister Renee. My mother is still around. She has a house on Pulaski Rd. and a house in Des Plaines. My Dad passed away in 1992, and my sister Michele passed away in 2002. If I had it all to do over again, It would be pretty much the same, except I would have stayed in school, and I would have been a lot nicer and kinder to everyone I knew. I am living a pretty normal, reasonably comfortable life. Sincerely, Dave Renkosiak
