David's Story
Update July 09 - I will write a more interesting and comprehensive story in the near future. I promise! In the meanwhile, I would love to hear from you. Feel free to send me a message, and I will respond back.
Well, my "story" is somewhat strange - but, then many would say the same of me. Ha!!
I left Des Moines and ran off to L.A. when I was 16. Dedicated myself to pursuits of pleasure, unashamedly it seems.
Finally ended up in Omaha working in the restaurant industry. Left there when I was 25 to return to L.A. and go to college.
Got a B.S.B.A. in Accounting and accepted a position with Peat Marwick. Worked for a couple of years there and then a couple of years as a...Expand for more
controller.
Mom died in 1986 (back in Iowa) and I kind of dropped out of society. Lots of substance abuse, violence, etc. Became clinically depressed, suicidal.
Enjoyed a spiritual conversion (Christian) experience in January of 1995 that was lifesaving and life changing. Ended up in rural Kentucky and worked in a sock factory for several years.
Laid off from sock factory (new owner outsourced work to Mexico), and went to grad school for Master's in Education (go figure). While there professors encouraged me to pursue Ph.D.
Finishing up Ph.D. in Adult Education now at the University of Georgia. I must confess I still don't know what I want to do when I grow up. LOL!!
