David's Story
Life post Millikan ('67)
Writing this 10/15/11 while again sitting in a Starbucks on Bellflower as I've been ricocheting several times back and forth to Long Beach this summer to visit an ill aunt. Hence these reflections....Long Beach was a great place to grow up. A wonderful, safe, and nurturing environment. Drove by Millikan and remembered many swell friends and activities...gymnastics, choir, drama, musicals, madrigals, hitch-hiking to Seal Beach to surf...even some classes and teachers.
Now 62 and counting. Graduated from CSULB in '71 Bsc Mgmt, and '72 MBA. Married my wife Marion in Winnipeg Canada in '74, eldest daughter born in Auckland, NZ in '81 (Spa Coordinator at Four Seasons Hotel, Beverly Hills), and youngest daughter born in Tokyo, Japan '86 (Ph.D student in psychology). Worked with Levi Strauss & Co. in various capacities around the world and head office in SF. After 25 years in the corporate world I left in...Expand for more
'97 and consulted primarily internationally until '07 when I decided to stop traveling for business. Have lived in Piedmont CA from '92 where we spend the fall and winter months, and we summer in Winnipeg (less snow then), where we have a log cabin.
Loved my career and work...great challenges, wonderful people, fulfilling achievements; and worked at a great company at a great time in its history during a time in my life when I could contribute to making a difference.
My family is wonderful. Marion has been and remains my best friend and a huge joy! As my daughters have become adults it is an incredible sensation to have our relationship expand to become friends as well as father and daughters.
Current and future focus....family, friends, health, and helping make our world a healthier and safer place.
