Here's a confession: While I attended Davis Elementary two blocks down Pershing Road, a number of my early childhood friends attended St. Jo's. I unwittingly created a profile here instead of there, but I am on the list at Nathan Davis Elementary too. Probably like most folks, I'm here out of nostalgia, but I'm also researching a history of Brighton Park and have already come up with some great photos of St. Joseph and St. Anne Catholic Church, the Brighton Theater, and other random shots of the neighborhood, thanks to Neil. My ancestral home on Pershing, bought and rehabilitated by my uncle in the early '60's, was built in 1903. I'm in the process of tracking down architectural/ownership records of the house and the histories of these two schools; the Brighton and other landmarks on Archer Avenue between California and Kedzie; the Fire Station at Archer & So.
