David's Story
Life
My wife Kathy claims she found me in a snow bank on a trip with the Jackson Ski Club. We've been married since 1983. We keep busy with church, Sanchin-Ryu karate, I'm on the school board, and Kathy frequently volunteers at the local environmental education center.
We enjoy traveling to various places to visit family, friends, see new places, and learn about other cultures and nature. Kathy has had the opportunity to participate in two Earthwatch projects in Alaska and Puget Sound. In August 2006 we went on a canoe trip in the Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness with the International Wolf Center and Outward Bound. Kathy had been canoeing and fishing in Quetico with our younger son Tom the previous summer. We are hoping to do more of this type of travel in the future - maybe Isle Royale this coming summer.

or, and "interacting" with each other. They get along pretty well now that Peter is at the University of Michigan and Tom is applying to Albion College.
We have one dog, three cats, and three hamsters. Boone is a very friendly 14-year old Labrador puppy. There are three cats here - Jasmine, a Seal-point Siamese; Pounce, a calico; and Mukluk, a grey tortise shell. Somewhere along the line, in my opinion, we added at least one cat too many. The hamsters are in Tom's room and the cat's are very interested in them; Boone doesn't care that they are here.
My Job is like no other job I know of. I do forensic engineering, mainly for the insurance industry. I get to look at burnt and broken things, and try to figure out how they got that way. Every day is different and I get to travel around the region and work from home. It's kind of like being "Encyclopedia Brown" with an engineering background.
