Life I was born to a large Chicano family in East San Jose in the late 60's and grew up a "child of the 70's." I was fortunate enough to live in the same home throughout my early years with both parents, which I feel contributed to at least some stability in my life, and I somehow made it through high school. After graduating in 1985, it took a few years for me to realize that I wasn't going to get anywhere in life unless I received a college education. So I spent the bulk of the 90's working to get my Bachelor's and then Master's Degree from San Jose State University. During my college years, I fathered two sons which I raised on my own for several years after getting my Master's degree in Social Work. By choice, I was a single father for many years but recently got married. I now have a young daughter. I am currently a psychiatric social worker for the Mental Health Department in the County of Santa Clara and am a licensed clinical social worker.
