Neil's Story
Hey all you former Stallions, it is good to get connected again. You will remember me better as Neil Sims, yeah.. I was the class clown that kept all of you people laughing in class.
After graduation, I went off to Denton to UNT for a couple of semesters and then got married in 1982. My wife and I lived in Lewisville and our son was born there in 1984. We then moved to Wylie, near Lake Lavon, and I have been there ever since (I really get around don't I?). Anyway, we raised our son there and pretty much settled in and enjoyed life. I spent about 10 years in the Amateur Radio business working for a local dealer and then I went to work for one of the manufacturers as a Regional Sales Manager. After that I went to work for a telecom test equipment manufacturer as a Sales Engineer. Both of these positions had me traveling all over the US and Canada for about 8 years. Back in 2004 I finally became another of the many victims of the telecom collapse. I then found the perfect career for me, I am selling new homes for a home builder in the area. What a great feeling it is to help people get in to a new home!
As far as personally, my wife and I divorced in 2002 (but hav...Expand for more
e remained friends) and our son is doing great and is a happy 24 year old trying to figure out life!! Boy do I remember those days!!
I have a lot of hobbies that keep me in the poor house and out of the bars! I took up the wonderful game of golf about 10 years ago and I regret the day I did it, it is more addictive than CRACK! And then if that was not enough, I decided that for my mid-life crisis fix I would start riding motorcycles. Yep, I went and bought a Harley! And I thought golf was addicting! Do you know there is no known cure for chrome addiction? I have not found a rehab center yet that will help me out! Can you help a brother out? I still love to hunt and fish and do all the outdoors stuff I did when I was young, but I have found it takes me longer to do them!! I know what you are thinking and yes... that too!
Anyway, I would love to hear from some of my old friends and find out how your lives have turned out. I still drive by NMHS every day going to work and home, I spend a fare amount of time in the Mesquite area and I look for familiar faces. I don't ever see any, but I know I will someday. Look me up some time and let's all get together for a beer!
