Life is not measured by the amount of breaths you take but by the amount of events that take your breath away
Your children are not your children. They are the sons and daughters of Life's longing for itself.
They come through you but not from you,
And though they are with you yet they belong not to you.
You may give them your love but not your thoughts,
For they have their own thoughts.
You may house their bodies ...Expand for more
but not their souls,
For their souls dwell in the house of tomorrow, which you cannot visit, not even in your dreams.
You may strive to be like them, but seek not to make them like you.
For life goes not backward nor tarries with yesterday. (Excerpt from the Prophet by Kahlil Gibran.
You cannot keep what you do not give away.".
More about David:"Born in Ottawa, was known from time of birth as David Skinner, attended Elgin Street School, Osgood street School, York Street School and Glashen Street School in Ottawa. Attended High School of Commerce and Lisgar Street School. Joined the Army Signal Corp in 1958 and name was changed to my legal birth name (Bartram) Good friends with Dianne Skinner of Ottawa, Pauline Rogers of Ottawa, and Sharon Hawley who lived on Main Street in Ottawa East. Another good friend was Gail Kerfoot whom I met in Elgin Street School ion Grade 3. Not a friend of my teacher at that time whose name was Mrs Conn. In fact I was never a good student of any of my teachers. I had this rebel in me who didn't like to be told what to do. I think I still do have the rebel in me and for that I am not sorry. My hero was in the 1950's James Dean, and some of his attitude remains with me today. I always wanted to walk a little on the "Wild Side."".
