David's Story

Life I retired from the U.S. Army in 1998 with 22 1/2 years of service which includes 2 years with the North Carolina Army National Guard. I entered the U.S. Army in 1973 with basic training at Fort Jackson S.C. and AIT at Fort Lee VA. After which I was stationed in Kitzingen Germany from 1973 to 1976, Fort Bliss TX from 1976 to 1977, and Hanau Germany from 1978 to 1979. I left the Army in 1979 and return home where I worked at Teledyne Allvac and completed 2 years service with the North Carolina Army National Guard as a 13B Field Artilleryman. I reentered the Army in 1983 with basic training and AIT at Fort Benning GA. as an 11C Indirect Fire Infantryman ( 81MM, Mortarman). My first assignment was in the Republic of Panama from 1983 to 1985 as an Infantryman and 1985 to 1987 as a Supply Sergeant and Armorer. Then I was stationed at Fort Riley KS from 1987 to 1989 as the Division Aviation Repair Parts Manager and Squad Leader, Taegu South Korea from 1989 to 1990 as the Customer Assistance NCOIC, Fort Campbell KY from 1990 to 1994 which included Saudi Arabia & Iraq during the Persian Gulf War for Operation Desert Shield and Desert Storm as the Division Aircraft Parts Manager and Platoon Sergeant. My last assignment was Camp Zama Japan from 1994 to 1997 located 2 hours southwest of Tokyo as the NCOIC/Material Storage Supervisor and Platoon Sergeant. places as Alaska, Amsterdam, Austria, Guam, Hawaii, Honduras, Mexico, Newfoundland, North Korea, Okinawa, Puerto Rico, and Rotterdam. Also had the opportunity to climb Mount Fuji. I have an Associate Degree in General Studies from Central Texas College and a Bachelor of Science Degree in Public Management from Austin Peay State University. I completed the Army Comptroller Course, Syracuse University, Certified Acquisition Professional Level 2 in Contracting, Defense Acquisition University, and several leadership/management/technical courses in the military and the United States Federal Civil Service.. I recently retired in July 2015 from the Federal Government after 16 1/2 years working for the United Stated Federal Civil Service with the Department of the Army as a Contract Specialist for the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (6 1/2 years) and a Budget/Financial Analyst at Fort Campbell KY (10 years) including serving as a Department of the the Army Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO) Counselor . I give God all the honor, praise and glory for my life, careers and blessing me to be retired. I am thankful for all He has done for me my entire life and what He is still doing now during my retirement.
