David's Story
Life
After graduating from PHS, I entered the Army as a TOW--anti-tank--missile systems operator. I was honorably discharged in April 1988 and moved to Orlando, FL to persue college. I wasn't really sure what I wanted to do in college so, I played around for 3 years at Valencia Comm. College until I decided on a major. I graduated with an A.S. in Film Production; however, instead of actually doing something with my degree, I went to MTA Truck Driving School and drove 18 wheelers cross country and then local. Tough times hit between 1996--1999. Bounced around with a lot of odd jobs; most being freelance truck driving. In the past year, things seem to be going well. I'm still truck driving as an independent contractor with a small local company, and am finally putting that degree to work--I and a good friend have started our own production company. The company is still in the birthing stage but, we hope to be doing well in the coming year.
College
I started college with the idea of majoring in Business. A couple years and many dropped classes later, my calling came when I took a class on George Lucas and his STAR WARS films. After I and a friend did a short film for the class, the teacher, Ms Foltz, impressed upon me t...Expand for more
o seek my future in Film Production. I graduated in 1994 with an Associate Degree in Film Production and Technology.
Let's just say that the past 9 years of film making has been quite dismal here in the "Sunshine State". (I've turned to 18-wheeler truck driving for income.) Currently, I and a friend are starting a tv show, our own production company, and I'm in the middle of a script that I hope to film sometime by the summer of 2004. Depending on what happens here in the next couple of years, there is the possibility that I may be moving to California and try my hand at Hollywood.
Workplace
Just a few of the jobs I've held since high school: Military, Bartending, Pizza Delivery, Retail/stockroom, Long-haul 18 wheel truck driver, Photography, Freelance film and television, and Acting. I'm currently driving the big rigs and trying to start a tv show and film/video production company.
Military
Joined the Army fresh out of high school. After basic, I went to Airborne School--Fantastic! Then I was assigned to a Mechanized Infantry Division at Ft. Polk, Louisianna for my entire 4 year hitch. My company specialized in TOW (Tactically Operated Wire-guided) anti-tank missile system. I was hororably discharged in April 1988.
