David's Story

Life Well, it finally happened. After moving to Cheney to go to college, spend 4 years, and then come home, I finally made it. Deanna and I moved back to Snohomish on November 1, 2007, just in time for some of the worst weather in the past 50 years. It was wonderful. Since then, Deanna and I have divorced. I am still here in Snohomish. I am looking forward to trying to renew some old friendships and maybe make some new ones. I still officiate a little, working both high school and college in the four major sports, football, basketball, baseball, and softball. In between college and moving back to Snohomish, I spent 25 years in Spokane working for various grocery companies and hotels. I got married out of college, had a daughter, and divorced 7 years later. My jobs and my offciating activities kept me busy throughout the following years, and working nights was always a challenge to finding and keeping a relationship going. I met Deanna in 1994, and I got married to the love of my life shortly after moving to California in 1998. Living in Northern California was challenging, not only from the traffic standpoint, but also having to adapt to the "California attitude". I was too much of a laid-bac...Expand for more
k Northwesterner to fit in much at times. We lived in Novato, just on he cusp of the Napa Valley Wine Country. A great place to be, if you are a wine drinker. Like Starbucks here in Seattle, they have wineries seemingly on every corner, and they are very ornate and elaborate. Fun to visit, but I am just not much of a wine drinker. In 2005 Deanna got her job working for IBM, and we decided to move back home a year later. Snohomish didn't offer much for her, though, and so she decided to move back to Spokane without me, and we have since divorced. I have 2 wonderful children (aren't all kids described as "wonderful"?). Sally is currently living in Portland, and Christopher is currently living in Spokane. No grandkids yet, and am not sure any are planned for the near future. Oh well, maybe some day... In 2010 while umpiring a softball tournament in Las Vegas, I happened to ask the tournament field director out to dinner. Unexpectedly, she said yes! Since then, our relationship has developed into one that you only see in the movies. So in July of 2012 I will be moving to Las Vegas, and we plan to get married in December. Never in my wildest dreams would I have expected this to happen. Amazing!!
