David's Story
After Hubbell Elementary, I attended Callanan. Next was Roosevelt, but I only got through one semester before moving to Pittsburgh, PA - both a traumatic and personality building move. I was in the US Army Reserve infantry long enough to learn infantry weapons and tactics - and to learn that I hated the army. I tranferred to the US Air Force, where I was a Soviet Analyst. aw from University of Iowa, and from 1984 to 2011, I was an assistant county attorney (criminal prosecutor) for the Johnson County Attorneys Office in Iowa City. I am now the Executive Director of the Council for International Visitors to Iowa Cities. I have been married for 34 years to Denise Kane of Waterloo, Iowa. We have an adopted, autistic South Korean son Mike, whom we adopted at the age of six months - he is now 24 years old as of Christmas 2011. While I didn't get to form a 'bond' with Roosevelt, I truly miss many of my Hubbell and Callanan friends.
