David Tucker:  

I am a native of Fairmont, West Virginia. Even though I traveled all over the world with the Army, I will always be proud to call West "by God" Virginia my home state. I graduated from Fairmont Senior High School in 1986 and Fairmont State College in 1990. In High School I was in the Latin and Bible Club. I won several award in creative writing and public speaking. I also attained the rank of Eagle Scout. In college I twice won it's prestigious M. M. Neely oratory contest. I joined the WV Army National Guard in 1985 before my senior year of high school and it paid for my college. My unit was the 201st Field Artillery out of Fairmont. It is the oldest Guard unit in the United States. It is forty years older then our country itself! From June 15, 1986 to November 8, 1986, I was on active duty with the Army taking basic and advanced Soldier training at Fort Jackson, South Carolina. I also served on active duty from December 9, 1990 to June 10, 1991 when the 201st was called to active duty in Operation Desert Shield/Desert Storm. It is my proudest achievement being a veteran who fought for his country. I went on active duty with the US Army on October 20, 1993 serving to retirement on November 30, 2012. I retired out as a Sergeant. I was truly blessed to have a wonderful career. I served stateside at Fort Riley, Kansas, Fort Lee, Virginia, Fort Detrick, Maryland, Fort Sill, Oklahoma and Fort Jackson.
