bout David:"After returning from WW2 (The Big One), where I was awarded the Distinguished Service Cross, two Purple Hearts, and the Congressional Medal of Valor, I became involved with many different charitable organizations. I invented UNICEF and The United Way, initiated the American Red Cross, and talked Jerry Lewis into broadcasting an annual telethon to benefit the Muscular Dystrophy Association. I have been involved in many different such projects over the years, but modesty prevents me from discussing them here.".
