David's Story
Life
After SJBA, I graduated from Mohawk Valley CC with an AAS in Civil Engineering. Joined U.S. Navy in 1965 and was designated a Naval Aviator (pilot) in Sept 66. Flew 320 strike flight combat missions off the aircraft carriers USS Hornet and USS Forrestal during the Vietnam conflict. Flew in the same Air Wing as LT. Commander now Senator John Mc Cain and was on the Forrestal with him when the ship caught on fire in July 1969. The fire killed over 130 men, two of whom were from my squadron. While in the Navy, I lived in Pensacola and Jacksonville, FL, Saigon, Viet Nam, Dallas, TX, Gaeta, Italy, Boston, MA, Camarillo, CA, New Orleans, LA. and London, England. Last assignment was in London as the Fleet Inspector General for the Commander and Chief
U. S. Naval Forces Europe was the most enjoyable. Married Sue Allen from Dallas, TX in 1976. We have three children, and now live in Camarillo, CA, located between LA and Santa Barbara. Now I'm an avid golfer, and my wife and I enjoy going on cruises and visiting Western Europe.
