David's Story

After service with the US marine Corps I went to work for Consumers Power Company and was there for eleven years. I then was employed by the Eaton County Sheriff's Dept. and spent twenty five years there retiring on feb. 1st 2002. I started as a Patrol Officer assigned to the Delta Township Division. I was assigned for two years to the Crime Prevention Unit and then returned to the Patrol Division in Delta Township. While in the patrol division I was certified and trained as a hostage negotiator, crime scene technician and various other specialized areas. I was promoted to Sergeant in 1992 was a Patrol Supervisor until 1996 when I was assigned to the Administrative Services Division as a supervisor over various administrative functions, i.e. training, purchasing, central records, and a few other areas. After that year I was transferred back to the Delta Patrol Division as a supervisor. Shortly after I was assigned as a Detective Supervisor for another year or so. ked there as an inspector in the Gas Operations Department until July of 2006. In January 2007 I returned to the Eaton County Sheriff's Dept as a Court Security Officer and finally stopped working in December 2010. I keep busy, I have served on the Eaton Township Board of Trustees for the past 26 years, I am the current chairman of the Charlotte Area Recreation Co-op. I serve on the Board of Directors at the Eaton Rapids Senior Center, also I am active in the Sons of Union Veterans of the Civil War Camp 17 in Miichigan, also active in the Marine Corps League Capitol Detachment #148 in Lansing, serving as the Detachment Adjutant. While working in Law Enforcement I had a parallel career in the Marine Corps Reserve and the Michigan Air National Guard, retiring from the 110 th Fighter Wing out of Battle Creek,, Mi. I retired in 1994 as a Master Sergeant with 21 years of service. I have three grown daughters from my first marriage, two of them have passed away, and have three step children and a whole platoon of grandkids and two great grandsons and ONE TERRIFIC WIFE!!!! We have been married twenty eight years she is from Grand Ledge.
