David's Story
Life
I live in Yuma, AZ and have been here since 1992. I am divorced, and currently in a relationship with a great girl. I have a wonderful fourteen year old daughter who is my best friend. When I'm not at work I enjoy getting outdoors and hiking, camping, fishing, four-wheeling, or tearing up the desert on my quad. I go to Phoenix, AZ a lot since that is where most of the rest of my family is, and I also go to San Diego, CA regularly to hang out on the beach and eat some awesome sushi. I still make it to Laughlin or Vegas to have a little fun on occasion too. I hope all of the old gang is doing well, say hello if you're here.
Workplace
Since I left high school not having a clue what I wanted to do, I guess I'm surprised at where I ended up. I joind the Marine Coprs in April of 1988, spent 8 years doing that, I still didn't have a career in mind when I got out, so Iwent to work at the maintenance department of a junior college. nt to criminal justice - tuition free as an employee -after a couple of years I decided that criminal justice sounded interesting, so I pursued that. I have been a deputy sheriff for the last seven years, and just recently became a member of the department's bomb squad. I now know this is what I will retire doing. I never ever pictured myself being in law enforcement while in high school or the military. Anyone who remembers me from high school probably would have never guessed it either.
Military
I joined the Marines in April of 1988 and got out in October of 2005. It was a wonderful experience that I would not hesitate to do again if I had to. Some of the places I was stationed or traveled to while I was in include: Camp Lejeune NC, 29 Palms CA, MCAS Yuma AZ, Puerto Rico, Okinawa Japan, Saudia Arabia & Kuwait (1st Gulf War), France, Sardinia, Italy, Spain, and Liberia. I spent 7 months aboard the USS Ponce just prior to the first Gulf War, leaving for the Gulf one month after getting off the ship.
