David's Story
Life
My Spouse met her at Choir practice at college. She was a freshman, I was a junior. I was fairly scary looking in those days, with hair to my shoulder blades. Yet she still dated me, go figure. Long and short of it is that we have been best friends for over 14 years. I couldn't imagine life without her.
My Job is exciting, challenging and ever changing. I am the Manager of Education and Consulting Services for Silliker Inc. Silliker is the largest food testing and service company in the world. My department covers training of food manufacterers to make certain that they are producing food safely as well as sending out consultants to help them solve problems should they have any.
I have been doing triathlons now for 4 seasons and just just competed in the ITU Sprint Triathlon World Championships (see my album for photos) in Budapest Hundary. I'm by no means the fastest, but I'm not the slowest either. It was quite the experience.
My Life in general, well, I have lived in the Chicago land area since 1997. Lived in a house for over 5 years now. Best move I ever made. Love the area. So much to do, and more importantly so much to eat! If ever in the Chicago Land area, drop me a line. :)
College

y wife there first of all. Made tons of great friends including my brothers of Lambda Chi Alpha and Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia (yes I was a singing geek!). Anyway, if I had to do it all over again, I definitely would. Since I didn't know a soul on campus I had to learn to make friends, which, I guess for someone as talkative as me, wasn't that difficult. But the education I received was even better. Because of the Liberal Arts background, I'm able to be much more flexible in the work place and is a direct contribution to why I have been able to move up in my company. Maybe the only thing I would do differently is actually study those first two years I was there. Instead, they are almost a blur to me. :)
Workplace
I've been with the same company since I graduated in 1994. Well, technically it is the same company. The lab I was at originally was bought out in '96. Anyway, I'm really proud of what I do. Essentially I help food manufacterers ensure the quality and safety of their food. I'm now essentially an Operations Manager but started out as a Microbiologist. Hopefully going back to school soon to get an MBA. Then again I've been saying that for years now. Anyway, it is a great company and is one of the largest networks of food testing laboratories in the world.
