David's Story
After graduation I moved to Carolina Beach, went to work for E.I.DuPont and got married. I had two boys, Kevin and Dustin from my first wife. While at DuPont I continued my education, receiving a AS in Industrial Instrumentation technology from Cape Fear Community College, and also secured an Electrical Contractors license. I retired early from DuPont in 1986 and did absolutely nothing for 2 1/2 years except take my kids to school, 4 wheeling, boating , surfing, traveling and just enjoying life to the limit, then realizing I was going broke I started an electrical/instumentation contracting company. In 1991 I moved past self employment and moved from the coast to the Raleigh area and ultimately divorced my wife of 22 years. I starting working for the Instrument Society of America (ISA) managing their training labs and teaching instrumentation courses at the ISA Training Center in Research Triangle Park. n Technical Services Engineer. Since then I have been showered with grand blessings - two beautiful granddaughters, Zoie and Bella from my eldest son Kevin and his lovely wife Leslie. I'm not sure my youngest son Dustin will ever make the plunge into marital bliss. He stays quite busy in the warm months out on some body of water and supporting the Hurricaines during the hockey season and the Carolina Panthres during football season. I have had the privilege of traveling to every continent of the earth except Antartica. I have experienced things I could have ever imagined as a young boy growing up in Winston-Salem. I enjoy tooling around topless in my '87 vette, and am also an avid Harley rider, NASCAR fan, 4x4 off-road enthuiast and you can catch me riding the grand kids around the neighborhood in my custom golf cart (I don't golf, just ride the cart). I am always looking for the next adventure that is just around the corner. Australia & Hawaii rank as the favorite places I've been with India placing absolute dead last.
