David's Story

Life If you're looking for me then you've found me! I started out at Downey as a transplant from Texas in Oct '76 (our Soph. year) and soon became known as 'that speech and debate guy'. During our Sr. year I really felt the love, the bond that made the class of '79 special. It was over too quickly, tho. I moved away from Mo-town the day after graduation and didn't step foot in town again until Nov 2005. I was truly astounded by the changes that have taken place in those parts. Of course, changes have taken place in us, too, I'm sure. And, since this is my bio, and since I have no direct knowledge of the changes that almost everyone else has undergone, I'll limit the observations to my own life's path. To make it easier to bail when you feel that you've had enough I will start with where I am now and work my way backwards. Besides, I like the symmetry of this method. I am, once again, transplanted from TX to CA: I live in San Jose. I moved out this was (from Texas) to get married in '93 (the move west in '93; the wedding was in '94.) The marriage didn't last (she left in July 2004) but we were blessed with two beautiful children, my son, Colton is the oldest by about 2-1/2 yrs over Chiara, my daughter, who was born the day after 9/11!. Being their Dad and wanting to be integral to their lives means that my stay out here will last at least another 10 years. Work-wise, I was an Information Technology guru for a little over 20 years. Health problems have seemingly put that career to rest, for which I am grateful. I am now writing again and look...Expand for more
ing forward to working on a Masters and/or a Ph.D. in Physics and/or Philosophy. That journey began in Sept. 2009. Since HS I spent a summer up in the Seattle area & then hitchhiked back to Turlock/Fresno. After stayinh only a couple of weeks I moved back to Texas. I played at being a student while living in Tyler, TX, meaning I majored in party-ology (and I should have been offered Phi Beta Kappa in this area, as I was G-o-o-o-d at it!) I did join Sigma Phi Epsilon, though, and still most of my best friends are from my Sig Ep days. I moved to Dallas to get serious about work and school in '81. I taught myself how to program and got a job at Texas Intruments in Jan '82 and obtained my BS in Mathmatics from UT-Dallas in '86. I did make the National Dean's List a few times and also competed at the Collegiate level in Public Speaking, earning the TX state championship in three events and runner-up in a 4th. Although I retired from competition early-on I know that those skills have served me well throughout my career and will probably come to my aid again down the road. So far this site has put me in touch with a few of my old aquaintences and friends, I do hope that I hear from more of y'all soon. I can be reached via hot mail with my first two initials plus my last name plus the two digit year of my birth (1961). To thos of you who are interested enough to try and clever enough to 'decode' my hints will take a few moments to drop me a line, as I would love to hear from you. 'Til then.... Cheers! David A.
