David's Story

Life I got back from California 3 years ago where I spent 6 years being involved in movies, TV and music. However, all these positions were temporary and I was unable to find a producer for my screen play of Woodstock 2 where I worked for 2 weeks in 1994. By the time I left California I was homeless and had sold my computer and my beautiful Ovation 12 string was stolen. Luckily I kept in solid contact with my friends here in New York. Most of whom I've known for 30 years and been in bands with. My best friend was able to send me a plane ticket back to NYC. Where I've resumed a less glamorous life with Trudy my one and only. After my California adventure I finally learned where my real home is and who really loves me. Anymore travelling that I do, I bring people with me. Presently studying to become a Medical Transcriptionist. As I'm disabled with artificial hips, the originals were replaced at LA County General in 1997. My blue collar days are over. Any job or career I have is used to subsidize my music. At this stage I merely want to get my songs recorded. I never concentrated on a normal career, because I'm not suited to it. For another, as a musician, I felt it would be a matter of time that I could earn my living at it. I took a job that gave me as much free time as I needed. I was a bike messenger in Manhattan for over 15 years. And in at least 3 different bands in that time. At one time I was a lyricist. All I had to do was write words. That's my strong point. In any case, my life has been full. And I continue to live a full life. The best thing I ever did was quit drinking. I stopped that in 1995. I couldn't write the screenplay if I was hungover. So, I just stopped. Since my hip operation I've had subsequent problems with pain and its treatment. Because of this I've come into contact with th...Expand for more
e proper psyche people who diagnosed me as bi-polar. That would explain a lot. I take what's been prescribed for the condition and I feel better than ever. I used to be so angry. I don't know at who. I was afraid and angry and I compensated by drinking and other things. It took me a very long time to stabilize, but I finally have. I haven't found fortune and fame, but I found true love. And that saved me from certain death. I hope others have done as well. I only have one request. If anyone knows or has heard of what became of Doris Van Winkle I sure would like to hear from you. If you are able you can give her my screen address. Spccowb.aol.com. Or leave a message in Classmates. If anyone has any concrete info, they can contact me at the same screen address. There are other people I'd love to hear from, I just can't think of them right now. But I invite any and all to write. No matter what grievances we might have had in high school, pales to what we've gone through as adults. So feel free to write. I know I was a wild character, a jerk and maybe even a good guy to some. You never know how others see you. But I wouldn't mind hearing from anyone. Well, that's all I can think of for now. I wish I knew how long 4000 characters was. I might still have enough space for my Martian Manefesto. But later for that. Just kidding. I wish all who read this well. I hope life is being good to you. Most importantly love those who love you. Never take them for granted. I've been to the end of the trail. Where you're out of money, out of food and out of doors. And it's not romantic, it's not fun it's downright scary. Do all that you can to prevent this from happening to you. Fortunately, I had friends who could put me back on the trail. But I just ran right of track. That will never happen again. Love Dave
