David's Story
Graduated in 1977, I certainly wasn't the best student back then, was clearly more focused on fun than academia. Went into the Marines, college, and then went to work for IBM in late 1980. Worked for IBM for 5 years, left, started my own technology company, had built and sold 3 companies by 1999.
Managed to strike a grove in business and consider myself fortunate; take nothing for granted there. I stay focused on my companies and the companies I've invested in. Recently started two new companies, ThreeRiversGroup, in 2002, and DataOceans in late 2004, just add the w's and the dot com for the web addresses.
When I sold my last company in 1999, I traveled for the acquirer setting up offices in Eurasia. As much as I love to travel for business and pleasure, standing on American soil after an extended trip is like a religious experience for me, thus I tend to study politics intensely, both domestic and international. While I'll never run for any political office, at some point I do intend to be involved, but in the background and ancillary areas.

ce due to infidelity on my X's part. I still lament some things there, but life goes on and I tell myself that better people than me have it worse...
I took a 4 year hiatus, with an extended trip on my sailboat, to check-out for a while. Sailed, surfed, looked up to the heavens at night, pondered life, the next steps and goals, a lot of deep thought about life and drank more aged-Rum than I care to admit.
Much of my free-time (which I don't have a ton of) is occupied with studying and writing about ancient civilizations, starting with the Sumerians, have 2-3 books I want to write, when time allows. My house is about as far away from American as one can get, all Indonesian, Asian, or from India, or Persia. I've managed to accumulate a bit of art, one VERY small Picasso that I still can't believe I bought, crazy moment of impulsivity influenced by some wine... I believe in exposing my kids, when I have them, to various arts and cultures and take them to museums, plays, places and countries to grow them and expand their minds and awareness of things that aren't immediately around them.
