David's Story
While being on various social media is not of much use to me, I do not look email everyday. This site has been of little benefit to me however because I refuse to pay their fees to see who has clicked my profile. I just glanced at the yearbook they list me in and looked an all the other faces and names on the page and I remember most of my classmates from way back when. I am sure that it may surprise most of them to know I cleaned up when I turned 20 and had ended up becoming a substance abuse counselor for 6 years before moving to Fort Lauderdale and Pompano beach where I became a scuba instructor. I gave that up back at the millenia and moved up to the east side of Orlando and have spent the last 16 years up here. rning 50 and being sober for over 30 years, there is nothing I would like more than to say sorry to anyone I ever mistreated, and to let them know that for the past 30 years I have made every effort to help others, to be honest, and rescue animals. Getting older does make you wiser, and I remember on one holiday trip home about 12 years ago, running into an old classmate in an AA meeting back in B.R. and then finding out he overdosed and died soon after. that. What I learned was that life will teach you all the lessons you need to learn, but you must actually pay attention. I was on a one way path to destruction back then, and thankfully got the message that It was going to kill me. I will be forever grateful that I saw death in my future and decided to give up the party life. Considering how many of my old friends may or may not have meet an untimely end I am sure i have been blessed, but only because I admitted defeat.
