David's Story
Life
After graduation I entered the US Army and made it a career with 20 years service, retiring in May 1983. I have been married to my beautiful wife for 31 years. We traveled the world together, thanks to the military. We have a daughter and son. We have 6 beautiful grand children. I completed tours in Vietnam, Hawaii and Germany. 994 due to base closure. I entered the fire service with the Lawrence Fire Department in 1974 as a volunteer while I was stationed at Ft. Ben. This gives me approximately 26 years in the fire service. We are not sure where we will be retiring. It could be back in Lawrence, Indiana or maybe even stay here in the sunny Columbia, SC. Since our son lives in Kilgore, TX we have thought about going there. Our daughter lives in Baltimore, MD but since we do not like the area I am sure we will not be moving there.
