David's Story
Life
It's funny what life hands you. Back in High School I was a math and science whiz. Everyone figured I'd head off to college to study physics, math or something - and I did. And hoo baby did I fail at it. So, I entered the wild, wooly world of work ... and sidestepped into a thirteen year career in retail.
Recently I grew bored of retail and highly irritated with my employer. So, I decided to go back to school. Already have the Associate's Degree (in History, if y'all can believe that). Time for the Bachelor's and then the Master's.
Turns out, as most anyone who knows me now would say, I make a pretty good teacher. Even my professors tell me that. I've always found the world of the past to be at least as fascinating as the present. And, as you can imagine from this verbose bio ... I'm a tad bit preachy!
Previous failures at college scared me at first. But, now I'm batting solid, rounding third and headed for home. Be a couple of years before I'm done with the warmup, but once I've got the school finished with I'll be ready for that big ol' next step. ...Expand for more
Less stress in my life now.
Success at something I love ... coming soon.
Life's not too shabby!
Of course, a family'd be nice as would a job that pays more than "here, go buy some cheese." But, those will come. After all, not much chance to meet folks selling Mortal Nuclear Death Ninja.
... update!!! ...
I graduate from Fisher in a touch less than a month and I am psyched. Haven't heard back from my graduate schools yet, but I'm sure to get in somewhere!
In the past two years at Fisher I've accomplished quite a bit:
- Deans list x4 (I'm a real student, who knew??!?)
- Published author (student magazine, but hey, it's a start!)
- Playwright (of a student play for something called 24 hour theatre ... but a play of mine got performed, so life is cool!)
- Killed a ton of trees writing fiction and poetry (yes, poetry ... again with the who knew??!? Heh!)
Anyway ... give me a buzz at my first initial+my last name at rochester dot rr dot com if you want to catch up. Alas, any ping on this'n here site is one I can see but can't respond to!
Dave.
