David's Story
Life
Greetings from Chicago! Here since '79
except for 15 months in LA. I still
work in advertising; writing/
producing/directing comedy radio commercials
on a freelance basis for major ad
agencies. And I have a voice-casting
business. Work is great! I've been very lucky. So, I
look forward to hearing from my Oak
Park and EMU friends, as well as my old ad agency pals. --David Lewis

PROUDEST MOMENT: Mr. Delidow picks me for Safety Patrole last day of 4th grade.
On to Clinton--
VIVID MEMORY: 9th Grade Clinton/Frost basketball game. Frost cheerleader was the most beautiful girl I'd ever seen. Saw her in high school--NEVER SPOKE A SINGLE WORD TO HER. NEVER SAW HER AGAIN.
OPHS ('72)- Fun Fact: Wrote a Bud Light radio commercial about our 10 year reunion-- Featured the names of pals Al Wolf & Dale Adelson-- plus teachers Goff, Weaver, Stovack, Delidow. Gets lots of media attention!
College
Highlights included involvement with student radio station WHUR/WQBR... plus stints with ECHO & AURORA (Yearbook).
Enjoyed my 4 years at EMU... and the life-long friends I made there.
Inspiring teachers made lasting impressions and helped launch my successful and very fulfilling career in advertising. Especially Ms. Edith Phillips!

Workplace
Never has someone had a more enjoyable trip along the career path than I! I met and worked with great and inspiring people at every stop along the way... and I wouldn't have changed much about the journey if I could.
Starting in the mailroom at Doner was a gift from God! Winning an award for my first commercial while still a summer-break employee was a true highlight. As was the chance to work with 3 of my heroes: Larry Kasdan, Cathy Guisewite & my "big brother" Thom Sharp. At Campbell-Ewald, I learned the craft from Morry Weiss, Chris Chamberlin, Larry Steinberg & Molly Hudson. Leo Burnett honed my skills... and at Needham, it all came together. Bob Scarpelli, Joel Hochberg, Susan Gillette and the rest, gave me the chance to shine. It was the best of the best! Bud Light was a blast. And later, Busch Gardens made me proud. But Bud Light got me to Bert, Barz & Kirby in LA. Heroes of mine forever and ever! They taught me the skills I use to this day in my career as a radio writer/director/ producer... My favorite job yet! They also let me work with one of the most talented people I've ever known, Rich Procter.
Thanks to all who've had any hand in making me one happy ad guy.
