David's Story
Life
Well hello fellow classmates. They ask me to share my life story with you but I would need to write a book if I were to go into great detail. So I will try and keep it the Readers Digest virsion.
I can't believe that it has been almost 40 years. Life has had its' ups and downs but I have always prided myself in maintaining a positive attitude. The glass is one-quarter full. Or, just when you think things can't get any worse then they can only get better.
Anyway, after I graduated in 69, I moved back home to Nova Scotia, Canada. ( And no, that is not way up there. Just take a look at the map.) It wasn't too long after I came back that I missed Lodi and all my friends and moved back. After all, I had 8 of my best years in California. I went to work with a good friend of mine, Duke Nottingham, but after being there for a year or so I started to miss my family and back home. It was tough to leave California but this time I moved back to Nova Scotia it was to stay. Of course I have had many times I wished I had made my home in California but as they say, home is home.
I went to work on a dairy farm for a while and eventually bought my own farm. I worked at this for 10 years and when the dairy industry was starting to require changes I was not attached to the business enough to make the changes so I sold the farm and got into the forestry industry. ( Big mistake) Well, not really but if I look back, had I continued with the dairy farm for more years, I believe that would have been a better decision. But, as they say, let's not look back but ahead..
I was into a couple of other things before I got into forestry, but forestry has played the biggest part of my life since 1989. I have had a few relationships but as of right now I am single again and actually lovin it ( for now ). I have a great son out of my first marriage who is now living in Australia and loves it. He is playing lots of golf.
Speaking of being...Expand for more
single, if any of you reading this know Jane Foccassi (maiden) please tell her I am available (lol). She was my first love and, who knows, if she is single maybe she could be my last love. (lol) If you ever read this Jane I hope you call me. You broke my heart but that is o.k. it is almost 40 years and I am almost over it (lol).
O.K., to continue on, while working in the forestry business, I acquired a piece of forest land on a small lake, next to a 300 acre forest property that I purchased from my father. As soon as I purchased this small parcel ( 30 acres in 1996) I immediately built a cottage/camp in the middle of it. Not long after spending time on the lake I had this strong urge to share this beautiful setting with other people. It was about this time I met another girl. ( my last relationship ) (give me a break, I'm a gemini, May 25th, same as my first love Janie) Anyway, we were together for nine years ( my longest yet ) and together we built my dream to share this peace and tranquility with other visitors. We built log cottages at one end of the lake and although it is a small lake, people love it here because it is only 10 minutes from town but like a world away. The reason it is so quiet here is because I am 1 of 3 landowners on the lake but the other 2 are lumber companies and no other cottages exsist here. Please go the web-site and take a look at some of the pictures of Irwin Lake Chalets.
So, in conclusion (although I see I have over 500 characters left) I will have to speak a little while longer. I am now living in my cottage/camp for this year but have plans to build a small new place right next door. Of course, if Janie comes back here to live with me, I'll have to get right on that. (lol) I continue to work a little in forestry and at the same time look after all maintenance and ground work at the chalets.
Hope you are all in good health ( especially Janie )
still love you Janie, Dave
