David's Story

I am from Hereford, Texas. My schools include Hereford High School ('65 graduate). Following graduation in 1965 I attended Southwestern Assemblies of God University (Associate of Arts in Business) and North Texas State University (BBA). After graduation from college in 1970, I completed my six month basic and AIT active duty training with the Texas Army National Guard at Ft. Polk, La. and was a reservist for 6 years as an E5 Sergeant In January 1971, I married my present wife, Susan Monzingo Marcontell, and began my lifelong career as an independent broker/agent in the life and health insurance industry. I continue to be very active in my career. My interests include hunting, fishing, sports, music, my church and mostly being very involved with my families activities and interests. Susan (an independent interior designer) and I will soon celebrate our 45th wedding anniversary. We have two children (boy and girl), a wonderful son-in-law and daughter-in-law and four beautiful and loving grandchildren (3 boys and a girl). We all live less than a minute from one another so being able to see our children and grandchildren on a regular basis is a blessing from God. We have a very loving family. My brother, Don, also lives in the metroplex and we are close to his family as well and see and talk to one another often. My wonderful parents are both deceased. Mom died app 13 years ago at 91 and Dad died July 1, 2013 at 102. We love God and he has blessed our family. Aside from our primary careers, we love music ...Expand for more
and entertaining. Along with our daughter Amy Jeter, Susan and I have sung together professionally for many years as The Marcontell Trio, performing in the country, gospel and 50's music genres. We have performed the national anthem for the Texas Rangers at the Ballpark in Arlington, have performed at numerous concerts, private parties, community and social events and venues and have been an opening act numerous times for a long list of professional country music entertainers. Along with some other musician and entertainer friends, we are also all members of a professional multi-genre entertainment live band known as "Electric Cactus" of which I am also the steel guitarist. Our son is an accomplished guitarist and vocalist who also performs with us on occasion and is also a member of the "Electric Cactus" band. I play pedal steel guitar both for personal recreation as well as professionally. My love for steel guitar and it's sound in country music started early in life while growing up in Hereford, Texas. I actually started playing steel guitar at age 11 and I still love playing it more than ever. Hereford was a wonderful town to grow up in. I still remember all of my friends and classmates so well, have wonderful memories of those growing up years when life was so innocent and carefree and I love staying connected to each of you through this site as well as Facebook, and knowing what you look like and what you are doing. I don't want to ever forget my childhood friends and what each of you has meant to me.
