David's Story
Wow...it's been a long, long road. I've traveled too much, worked too much, and now I'm semi retired and volunteering at The Center for Hope in Ambridge. It feels good to help feed the hungry and mentor the kids. Having spent way too much time in China and India as a project manager for an industrial furnace company, now I'm enjoying being home.
My dad is God's way of getting even with me for not having had any children...so now if anybody asks about kids, I smile and say "My oldest is 82 going on 17".
I lost the love of my life six years ago to the darkness of depression; the illness was terminal. The shock of coming home and finding her dead at her own hand was hard to shake and I've written a book about the whole thing (Thank you, Myrtle Trembley!) The book is listed on Amazon Kindle as an e-book, and it's titled "Like Tears in the Rain"; I started ...Expand for more
the book with the intent of it being her story, but it turned out to be my story instead, and I hope it can help others who are dealing with the darkness. Currently I'm working on a fiction story with some paranormal action having some roots in my experiences.
Now for fun, I shoot trap and sporting clays, and I instruct High Performance Driver's Education. What that last one means is that I get to strap myself into a car I'm totally unfamiliar with, next to someone whose face I can't even see, and trust them to drive me around a race track while I tell them what they can be doing better. Under no circumstances will I ever set foot on a roller coaster, though. I raced sports cars for five years, and quit when it became too expensive, so now I instruct and get paid in free track time.
I can't believe it's 2013...1968 couldn't have been that long ago, huh?
