David's Story
I couldn't wait to get out of High School and into the world, to do things way more exciting than sitting in class rooms! And get out of my family's economically challenged situation as well. I was not going to sit in college class rooms, doing homework for another 4 years! Besides, I couldn't think of one civilian career field that wasn't boring to me, which would justify spending college tuition for. So....

Married a Canadian in 1986, single again in 2012 - 'nuf said.
I have two children - both adopted infants from Russia (Girl 9 Mo. and Boy 10 Mo. old); Made trips to Moscow and Siberia (December 1997 Yekatringburg and May 1998 Novosibirsk) to get them. As of 2013 - 2014 both (16 years old) are Honors Students, and will be Juniors in High School (great musicians and athletic too). I have my children 50% of the time now (every other week) and specified holidays.
So, the Immigration Service and I had imported and made US Citizens of my whole family!

Due to several service connected injuries and vehicle accidents, I'vehad several operations: knees replaced, spine fixed, torn petalar and achilles tendons repaired, rebuild a shoulder...
I had to stop downhill skiing in 2005 while employed flying Emergency Transport helicopters in CNY but seems I can try it again this winter 2016/2017 after all the repairs. Remember the Bionic Man? I'm only worth 1/12th of the medical and parts costs now - LOL? And that kryptonite occasionally puts a damper in my style!
I still Xctry Ski, play guitar (recently discovered MODERN country music and love it), bike, hike, swim, camping (Pop-up)...
I still drive vehicles with manual transmissions - just love the shifting I guess: I had to custom order my 2011 Nissan Truck with the 6-Speed, instead of an automatic transmission! I just refurbished my 1982 Yamaha Motorcycle that I bought in Alabama 1986, and took with me and rode all over the world where permitted.
I âÂÂm expecting to get Hang-Gliding and add commercial airplane qualified to my pilot'ÂÂs license soon.
Maybe take the kids for SCUBA classes with me as well.
I also have two cats my kids adopted from the SYRACUSE Humane Society and CNY SPCA: Jeter and Ezmerelda (aka: Ezzy). We also volunteer at the SPCA.

The most useful High School class I took - "PERSONAL TYPING"!
The next - Basic Algebra (Basic Proportion Problems for figuring out fuel burn rates - LOL)
Maybe some of that Chemistry and Biology also helped along the way?
Almost wish I had played around in the Computer Club more back then! Who knew? OK- a couple of class Computer Club GEEKS did! They probably bought Microsoft stock during the first public offering, and own a private tropical island now! If they ever come to a class reunion â look for the ones with the really good tans! Wonder if they need a full-time live in helicopter pilot?
And all the Track Team Pole Vaulting training - upper body strength I got from it really paid off with my first Special Forces enlistment! The three weeks of Airborne / paratrooper training was the most fun three consecutive weeks of my Army Career. Officer Leadership Training taught me a lot about time management, team coordination, prioritizing and delegating to get more done than can possibly be done under any other circumstances! Now if I could only train my kids â damned stubborn teenagers wonâÂÂt drop for pushups since they turned 12 years old! Well, there is always turning off the Cell phone service or router to motivate their bedroom cleaning. Well, yeah, I'ÂÂve gotten a little tech geeky myself these days, who hasn'ÂÂt!
I miss the flying, the camaraderie, Esprite de Corp - not so much the ARMY! Or the WAR stuffÂÂ! LOL
