College
In 1/57 I started Joliet Jr college and finished in 1/59. Went to NIU in 9/59 through 1/62. Back to NIU in 8/63 through 6/66. Received a BS Ed in '62 and a MS in '66. Meet my wife at JJC and have been together ever since.
Military
After high school I was drafted into the US Army and spent most of my time stationed in Alaska. Worked as a mechanic in the motor pool, so got to ride when the rest of the troops were skying. When we were in Big Delta in 1/56, the temperature got down to 63 degrees below zero. It was so cold that spit would freeze before it hit the ground, that's cold.
Work
In '62 taught one in Cleveland, OH, from there I taught 3 years in Plainfield, IL and then moved on t...Expand for more
o JTHS until I retired in '91. I taught Industrial Arts and Driver Ed. In the summer I taught flying at Joliet, Lockport and Frankfort.
Travel
I have been in all 50 states and over 34 foreign countries. Traveling must be in my blood since I started traveling at 6 mo old and have been traveling ever since.
Retired
Retired 6/91 and moved to FL. Spent 3 years building airplane (see photo). Stayed 5 yr. in FL then moved back to IL. Sold airplane in 2001 and purchased a boat (see photo).Spent summers in Hammond, Indiana and traveling the Great Lakes.
Since I have had both hips replaced, it limits my activities. So now I do a lot of walking and taking photos. No flying or boating any more but I still travel.
