David's Story
Life
I married Paulette Chardler (former Lagrange student). We have a daughter (Carole, who lives in Denver), and a son, David McAlpin, who has so far remained in the nest. We retired to Cooper, Texas, where I garden, birdwatch, hunt, and fish (caught a 32 pound blue cat last year!). We have three granddaughters and one grandson.
When Carole and her brood visited last Thanksgiving I taught my grandkids how to make jelly (we have concord grapevines that produce a prodigious quantity of fruit...Expand for more
, 300+ pounds). On their next visit I plan to teach them how to bake bread.
There is a 20,000 acre lake about 10 minutes from where we live, so it only takes a few minutes to get the boat down there and launched. The lake has, in addition to an abundance of catfish, huge crappie, largemouth bass, white bass, and sunfish. A smaller lake is even closer, and it also has lots of fish in it.
I guess that a guy who enjoys the outdoors as much as I do could not have picked a much better location.
