David's Story
Life
Loved living in Colorado. Worked in Denver, and lived in Aurora. I now live in Arlington Texas. We finally made to Yuma the week of Labor Day, 2003. Too darn hot! Still great food in Yuma. Yuma has grown and is no longer the sleepy town that I grew up in. Spent 25 years with AT&T (formerly AT&T Long Lines) as a Communications Technician and have survived Divestiture of "Ma Bell". I retired in August 2005 at age 51. I moved to Arlington Texas at that time. I got married in November 2005 to the girl I met 38 years ago in Yuma (Sherry). She is the Assistant Director of Financial Operations for the City of Arlington. Her Dad built the Pilot Knob Campground in 1972 at the Sidewinder Exit on I-8, which is just west of the old "Bug Stations" , west of Yuma. We hope to make it back down to Yuma to visit soon. We were in Tucson in March 2007 for my niece's wedding and do not miss the desert landscape. My nephew also named David Wright is now a Policeman in Yuma. I'm at d v wright at att . net. I sat around for a year and got bored.
I am now back at work as an Examiner with the Texas Department of Public Safety, Driver License Division, in Grand Prairie located between Dallas and Arlington. Lots of fun, but very intense at times with identity theft so common. I give road tests for 18 wheelers down to motorcycles. I ride along and grade the various turns, lane changes, and with 18 wheelers, all the commercial rules a trucker must know. It's amazing how many people can't drive safely! I also go to court for hearings on Administrative Revocation issues concerning the privelige to have a Driver License. My son, Christopher, is now 28 years old and lives in El Paso Texas. He is stationed at Fort Bliss, in the U S Army. He was deployed in Iraq for 12 months and came back. My Daughter still lives in Aurora Colorado She is 32 years old. Keep in touch!! David
Update April 13, 2010. Just got back from Yuma for Jeff Denman's Mom's Funeral. Yuma has grown. Horrbile traffic construction on 16th from Arizona Ave to Pacific Ave. What a mess. The old parts of Yuma where I used to ha...Expand for more
ng out are so much changed. Every house has a off-road, RV or boat. Usually parked in the front yard.
Great meal at Chretins' of course.
Don't know when I'll be back. Fond memories of growing up in Yuma though. Albert Lee Jr whom I have known since 3rd grade was in charge of the arrangements for the Funeral. Hadn't talked to him since graduation
Will be a while until I get back.
Update November 4, 2012. Still love living in Arlington Texas, Home of the Texas Rangers Ballpark, and Dallas Cowboys Stadium. Read the YumaSun online every day. Yuma growing!!

Thanksgiving 2021 coming up. Survivor of Covid-19’s horrible virus. Had it January 2021. Kicked my ass, little sense of smell has returned. Life almost back to normal. Getting ready to resume travel in 2022. Fully vaccinated and booster. Sherry’s mom passed July of 2021. Brothers doing good. Our children doing great. I hope this year Dallas Cowboys do great. We avoid the AT&T Stadium area on games days as we=live less than 2 miles away. Best wishes to all who read this for a better 2022. Take care all.
