Dawn's Story
Life...is an adventure, live it! I went sky diving at 57 and loved it, gonna do that again most definitely. Getting a divorce after 23 years, I get to start over. Love my job as a psych nurse in a behavioral facility.
I have finished Nursing school, and have been working as a nurse for over a year. Finally attained one of my dreams.
Finishing nursing school in just 5 short weeks!
UPDATED 6/23/2014
I worked at the hospital for 17 years and got laid off because a computer program took over my job. So now I'm in Nursing School, finally going to attain that dream I've had all my life. My husband and I have bought some property in Mexico and will start to build our home maybe next year. I don't plan on working until I'm too old, I hope to be able to use my nursing skills in Mexico. A perfectly bilingual Nurse should come in handy, as I've been known to translate for tourists before.
We have bought a new house with 5 bedrooms and .26 of an acre of land. It's a nice house, we share it with my husbands nephew and his wife and 2 kids. I adore the kids and the adults aint too bad either, I just can't wait to live with just my husband. In 18 years of marriage, I don't think we have ever lived alone, always helping others out. We plan on moving out and selling in in 5 years and it will be just him and I, alone.
This year I plan on Sky Diving for my birthday! Adrenaline, gotta love it!
So, there it is, an update on my profile since it was originally written.
Graduated HS in 1980, and messed around a few years going nowhere. Got in a car wreck and one day woke up and decided I wanted more out of life than I had. So, I straightened up and joined the Army for 6 years of Active duty and a year in the reserves. Got out and went to college, got an Associates Degree and went to work for a lawyer as a Bilingual Trial Assistant. Didn't much care for that so I went back in to the Health Care field and worked the dream job of my life... working with non english speaking immigrants in a health care setting.
I now work for a large Catholic Hospital Providence Portland (the sister hosp...Expand for more
ital to St. Mary's in Walla Walla, Wa)I work full time.
I have a great and supportive husband, a 27 year old daughter, 11 year old grand daughter and a 5 year old grandson. My husband is from Mexico and we travel there frequently. Some day we will retire in Mexico, up in the mountains in a nice quiet village.
We bought our house 6 years ago and and have since sold it and downsized to a manufactured home that is paid for. My 93 year old grandmother and my daughter and grandkids all lived with us.
My life has definately come along since high school, and I'm sure some of my old classmates and teachers never thought I'd make it this far. And to be honest, some days I wasn't so sure either.
But I'm happy and content with my life. What more could a person ask for? Ok winning the Lottery, but since I rarely play, that is probably not going to happen.
I always wanted to be a nurse when I grew up. My family and friends thought that was a great idea. As it turns out, they were right, too bad I didn't ever become one.
My favorite TV shows: SURVIVOR junkie! And I love to watch the Judge shows (Judge Judy etc) I like to see how stupid people can be. Why on earth would you want to air your dirty laundry on a nationally syndicated show?
If I could improve my home, I'd remodel my whole house and add on a 2 car garage. My dream home would be a nice hacienda in Mexcio.
If I won $100 million, I'd give some of it to my family to become debt free, then spend the rest on traveling, a new home in Mexico and live happily ever after. This is a dream right?.
When I was 12, I thought that people my age now would be hardly able to enjoy life because of the advanced age. I was so completely wrong! Thank God I COULD enjoy the Y2K and have fun too.
I share my home with our best friends family Teresa, Lalo and Paulina, which I find fun for the most part.
I earned an International Army Medal in Germany during a NATO competition. I'm and expert marksman!
In 10 years, I hope to be retiring from my job and hopefully moving to Mexico. I'm going to get there by finishing my time at work and driving to Mexico..
