Dawn's Story
After Conant, I just wanted to get the heck out of Illinois, be free of school rules, etc., and see some new things. I left there to move to South Dakota with Dale Gereau, Diane Glessner and John McSweeney...and my horse and John and Diane's horses. :-)
After a few months we ended up in Nebraska (go figure). One thing led to another (good times and rough times) and my sister Laura and I ended up moving to Colorado (with our horses) for a couple of years. Then back to Illinois (again...go figure), married John Lanza, had a daughter (now a lawyer in Boston) and a son (military and now works overseas), got transferred to Memphis for 15 years, got divorced and moved to Connecticut (in 2004), where I am currently living with my sister Laura.
I am a licensed massage therapist for humans and horses. I specialize in orthopedic/neuromuscular massage and sports massage. I am also a personal trainer at a gym and am *affectionately* known by my clients as "The Evil Queen of Cor...Expand for more
e" (hey now, core fitness is very important!). :-) In May 2010, I went to Costa Rica for an advanced certification class in orthopedic massage. I figure if you are going to go study something, it should be in a good place!
I am presently learning Hebrew because I would like to go to Israel. I support 2 humanitarian groups there who are always looking for volunteers to come and stay for as long as they can manage it to help out in their mobile clinic and also to distribute supplies. I think that would be an incredibly awesome experience.
So, for those of you who are still awake and with me to this point, my bottom-line philosophy is that yeah, it sucks that we have to get older, but while we're here, we should always keep moving forward with whatever sparks us and have adventures, stay as strong and healthy as possible, and go out with our candles still lit instead of just fading away into a squishy, moldy mess on the couch!
