Dawn's Story
Well. after graduation I went to work for a law enforcement department in Dallas. I stayed there for 18 years and took an early retirement while working the courts as a bailiff.
During my time in law enforcement, I also had a few part time jobs doing some modeling, had 2 walk-on parts in movies filmed in the area, and was half owner of a security firm that provided security for films being made in the Dallas/Ft Worth area.
On a trip to Washington DC I met my future husband.
I now live in northeast Iowa. I am married to a wonderful man that is retired military and we have a yours, mine, ours of children from ages 32 yr old twins, 26 yr old son, 24 yr old son, 16 yr old daughter and a 8 yr old son. We have 9 grandchildren.
We live on a farm/ranch with several horses, cows, llamas, pigs, sheep, goats, chickens, geese, ducks, guineas, cats and dogs, all your typical farm critters. We also have a parrot.
We bought a 2 story home that was built in 1901 and we are cur...Expand for more
retly remodeling it to put it back like it was when it was built. We have a lot of fun going to estate sales and such looking for turn of the century furniture and fixtures to put in this old home. Of course, we are keeping the indoor plumbing and electricity that was put in later. LOL
What my family and I really like doing is horseback riding. We have 9 horses which three are draft horses. We hook up the Belgians and the Clydesdale to sleighs when the snow is deep (which is pretty much all the time in the winter here) and take sleigh rides. I have a friend here that is trying to get me into barrel racing and pole racing with the quarter horses.
We have a large herb/vegetable garden every year and I spend time now canning everything.
Just recently i went back to the work force. I now work as a teacher's aide with special needs children. It is really rewarding.
Just everyday country life.
