Dawn's Story

Life Geeze, does anyone remember me? Hmmm **You can find me on Facebook!** I went to college, afterwards married and the statistics were against it. Divorced and later became a single mom. In between I modeled and acted, eventually owned a few businesses. Two were in Atlanta, and ended up in California with a new business for 7 years. I sold a paint your own pottery studio (surprise..an art connection!) and moved back to the south. God, I missed Atlanta, but it is too crazy now! Instead, I moved to the beach in Jacksonville, FL. Once you get hooked on living at the beach, it is hard to leave the sand, surf and seagulls. I currently have my new pottery business, but specialize in on site events so I get to work out of my house on my own schedule. Pink Flamingo Arts is the name of my business, so look it up on line! We are expanding so it keeps me pretty busy. I also do promotional tours and pour wine on the weekends. (Ironic that the girl that didn't drink til she was 22 is an expert in wine..ha ha) Gotta love California for that education! Well, that and healthier eating habits. I have an incredible teen daughter who stole my looks and body! She is wonderful and fun and we are best friends. I always wanted more kids, but, the powers that be denied that one since I didn't want to be a single mom with TWO kids. So, instead, I am a mom to all my daughters friends and I think I have fed about 50 college kid that were my employees for 10 years. If karma is good, my daughter should be fed in college for the next 5 years at...Expand for more
least. I finally, finally, got snagged and settled down with the house, mortgage and garden. (well, I certainly loved my single dating life, my oh my the adventures!) It only took me 17 years to find him but it was worth the wait. He does promotional tours (The Body, Titanic Artifacts, Komen Race for the Cure, Seaworld, Brawny, etc.) so when he is on tour, I get to fly out and explore a new city and have fun. I never thought I would get married and narrowly escaped a few engagements that, looking back, definitely were for the best to avoid. I was ready to be an old lady with a bunch of cats, a glass of wine, good book and a remote in my hand. I like this better. We have way too much fun and are enjoying fixing up our little bungalow and spending our money on travel and adventures. I love my life and my richness in my great friends. If anyone is headed to the beach and wants to stop by, you are welcome to join the lazy, Florida lifestyle. We do have the cats, wine, remote and great books, but also a tiki bar, beach, great friends and great food. I love my menagerie and our renovations we are doing on the house. Come on by and we can road trip or stay close to home. We travel a lot between CA and FL and many stops in between. I recently ran in to Charles Marshall in San Diego, Jay Griner in Orlando, and stay in touch with Darcy Hobbs. (GO Darcy! My longest knowing friend!) Would love to catch up with college and high school friends as well. Facebook is AWESOME for catching up with old friends. Hope to catch you there!
