Dawn's Story
Life
Life after J. P.:
After a couple of years' wait, I enrolled at UMass, Amherst and majored in horticulture for two years.
Education was interrupted by marriage in 1963 and a move to CT, but
I continued classes at night and changed major to psychology. Finally graduated from Univ. of Hartford in 1969. Divorced in 1970.
Got a job at Univ. of Conn. Health Center in Personnel. At the same time, started work on my
MBA. Finished that in 1973. In the meantime, did
a brief stint as a classical D.J. on WWUH radio station.
In 1977, had a chance to go to CA on vacation. My
sister invited me to stay, so I did. Career changed
in 1989 from Personnel(HR) to tec...Expand for more
hnical writing. This
I found to be my true calling. Had a wonderful time
during the days before the tech bubble burst. Finally, after two layoffs in two years, I decided
it was time to come "home."
The job situation gave me a rude awakening. I had planned to stay with my mother in Warwick, MA for a few months, find a job, and move to wherever the job was. Well,
I'm still with my mother and looking for a job. I had
a job for a year, but business turned bad, and I just
got laid off again.
So, I'm now looking for a technical writer job, but will probably settle for anything interesting that pays half way decently.
That's it - 47 years in a nutshell.
