Dawn's Story
Lets see. Graduated 1974. 10 years with SSA. 1 year industrial. 5 years with lawyers. 8 years with investment consulting. Back to lawyers - WHAT was I THINKING - SHOOT me if I try that again. Married in 1991 and had a baby boy 12/26/91. Bought large house in city 9/1995. Marriage went south almost immediately. Kicked hubby out May 1998 and moved into the basement of house in order to rent out the upper levels. Hubby crawled back in September. Asthma, stress, smoking and basement dwelling started a series of annual hospital visits (9 years - 10 visits) with pneumonia and/or pulmonary flare of some kind. Each hospitalization started in ICU for at least 2 days with an entire stay of approximately 9 days. Each series of steroids to combat the inflamation left me with a weight gain of 5 to 10 pounds. Have been on oxygen in various degrees since the first visit. Left hubby on 9/9/99. Stayed 2 years with son at shelter - the things I could tell you! Got apartment in Cockeysville 10/10/01. Notice a pattern with the dates! Ex-spouse died 11/05. That was hard. I left him because I couldn't live with him - not because I didn't love him. Bought small condo in Timonium 6/7/06 (refused to sign on 6/6/6 or the pattern would ...Expand for more
continue). Son has emotional problems. My life has been on hold trying to help him. Now he's he'll turn 18 and there will be decisions to make.
I love my life! I've a wonderful, fulfilling job working with (not for) GREAT people. They are kind and patient and understand my health problems and work with me. I want to get a life of my own but am held back by my health. Still love classic rock 'n roll. Think of myself as a biker chick/librarian (no tattoos).
Actually took vacations during the last few years. Whale watching in Massachusetts (what a great place) and a week in Manhattan (not enough time). Want to get to Niagra Falls next. don't know if it's monetarily possible but its definately on the list. The boys and I have a list of places we want to go on the side of the fridge that we add to. Baseball Hall of Fame is on there too. I LOVE baseball.
Have a friend of my son's living with us in our dining room. He's been here a year and will be here another year at least. He's got a story of his own and, trust me, even though his bed is in the dining room, it's better here than he's ever had it before. May be boring, but it's safe and stable.
Well, that's plenty. Hits all the high points and the low points.
