Dean's Story
Life
After 5 years at Oregon State, we moved to Delware for graduate school. I got my MS in Marine Biology, and worked in the Mariculture program for several year, growing clams, oysters and algae. Later, I developed a way to measure how fast microorganisms could swim. This research resulted in two US Patents. I was a Marine Bioligist for 17 years. I then worked for the College of Agriculture as a Technology Specialist for 17 years, until I had to retire from there. as a clinical Pharmicist at Washington Hospital Center, and my son as a cartographer in Hillsboro, Oregon. I also served 5 years elected to the local school board. I live here in a beach resort area on the Delaware Coast. My parents still reside in San Diego, and I make it back there a few times a year. I also spend a week skiing each year in the Northwest and several weeks each year on a tall ship, usually in the Caribbean, although in August we spent a fabulous 2 weeks on Canadian Sailing Expeditions ship Caledonia in Newfoundland and Labrador. The iceburgs and humpback whales were fantastic!!!
