Dean's Story
Life
My daughter has said that what has stuck with her is that my wife and I have taught her to focus on the positives in her life and our phrase has been "Life is Good!!" Our daughter graduated from Carnegie Mellon University in Civil Engineering and has earned her State Engineering license. Workplace
Work hard, play hard, play politics without selling your soul (e.g. stroking the right egos as needed), enjoy life, and plan ahead for an early retirement on your company's dime (Retirement date of 8/13/23). Quite frankly, work is the means to the end and too many people let work define who they are or what "they feel" they can do. Remember that our jobs are nothing more than what we do and they don't define who we are. Opportunities are all around us and don't believe that it takes luck. I've learned that "Luck" is nothing more than properly planning ahead, plus opportunities, plus taking calculated risks. Bottom line, life is too short to let the little things get in the way, so enjoy the "now" while setting the groundwork for "tomorrow. yahoooooooooooooooooooooo retirement!!
