Dean's Story
I attended CSULB after high school and earned my B.A. in mathematics with honors.
I've worked for at&t since 1981. I started in the Van Nuys data center, transferred to the Irvine data center in 1984 (where I met my wife, Kimmie), then transferred to San Ramon in 1986.
Kimmie and I got married in 1988. We went to Europe for a month on our honeymoon. We returned to Europe for another month long adventure in 1990, but this time we traveled most of the time in the eastern bloc countries. We started the trip in East Berlin and did our part to tear down the wall. We literally chisled out our own souvenoir pieces using a sledge hammer.
Our son, Zachary, was born in 1992. Kimmie stayed home with him for a year and then I took a leave of absence for a year to play Mr. mom. That was hard work! Our daughter, Alexandria, was born in 1994, so Kimmie and I switched roles again...Expand for more
and I went back to work and she stayed home with the 2 little ones.
Our travel adventures pretty much toned down to local activities like camping, skiing at Tahoe and visiting Yosemite a couple times a year while the kids were young.
Kimmie was diagnosed with non-hodgkins lymphoma in Sep 2000. The following few years were pretty tough for all of us (my kids were 8 and 6 yrs old when this chapter started). With the support of friends, family, and especially prayer, I'm happy to report that Kimmie is doing well these days.
In fact, we started to explore beyond our borders again starting a few years ago. We returned to Europe, went south to Costa Rica, and visited Hawaii a few times in between.
We enjoy snow skiing at Tahoe during the winter and usually log about 25-30 days each season. We share a cabin with some friends every year which makes it very convenient for us.
