Dean's Story
Life
I am learning to fly a remote controlled helicopter, and play an electric guitar.
Workplace
After high school, and "college" I started working for Poage's Auto in Tumwater until I discovered that I hated being a mechanic. I next attempted to be a salesman for various different companies, but my natural tendency to be brutally honest doomed that career to failure. Eventually I received a call from my Uncle Frank who was a building contractor (he now owns Frankie's Bar&Grill etc.), who wanted me to come to work for him as a carpenters helper. He began teaching me the carpentry trade and I decided I had found a good calling. I worked for Frank for a few years before my father extended the opportunity for me to join the Carpenters Union. I began my apprenticeship working for my dad for the first two years learning finish carpentry (cabinet setting).
My remaining three years of apprenticeship were spent working for other cabinet companies, and rough construction companies such as PCL and Northwest Framers to round out my carpentry knowledge.
During my time as a Journeyman carpenter I badly injured my back and was forced to leave the career that I loved so well.

place at the right time, and secured a job as a car stereo installer with Foss Car Audio in Tacoma. My love of car stereo and my creativity blended with my carpentry and mechanical skills to soon place me as one of Foss' premier custom installers. I loved building competition sound systems and amazing people with my unique custom installations.
I stayed with Foss for several years until the ownership changed hands for the third time since I began working there. I decided to move on to another interest that I had in learning electronics.
I began working at Desco Electronics in Olympia, and stayed there for two years changing parts in prison TVs' and teaching myself electronics until I was laid off when our prison TV repair contract ended. Dick Scott, the owner of Desco secured me a position with another local repair shop before having to let me go.
I began working for Capitol Radio & TV at that time as the audio technician. John, the owner of Capitol Radio is an excellent employer and teacher. He took the time to fully answer any question that I had when I first started, and within six months he had brought me to a point were I could work independent of assistance.
