Dean's Story

Life I am married to a WONDERFUL AWESOME woman by the name of Midori. She is Japanese, 100% and I met her in Japan in October of 2001. We have been married for going on 4 years this year and each year gets better as we grow together in this marriage. I have one great dog named Yuki. He is a 6 year old German Sheppard. He is my one and only child. He loves beer like his dad, every so often and greets me when I come home like I have been gone for a year. He is a blessing. We currently are moving. The Army has selected me for Regular Army Active Duty and we will be stationed in Yokohama, Japan for the next few years. School High School for me at times seems the best time of our lives. Freedom, friends and fun. But I am glad I am who I am today. I thank all my friends who I shared life with then though we do not keep in touch any more. Nick Erminio who does keep in touch, Joe Valentovich, Harry Oldland, Roger Metz, Bob Thomas, Mark Ciez, Terry Oliver just to name a few. My favorite teachers were Mr. Kennedy with the visual communications which I still love Photography and Jack Schussler, which I still love to sing, especially Karoke haha. Enjoy life, live simply. College Well in College I went to California University of PA. I graduated in 1983 with a degree in Industrial Management. Mike Kelkis and Russ Langley were my best of friends as well as John Pohill. They were all in my first wedding in 1983 to the then Cheryl Fidrus. We lasted seven years. The most amazing thing from college was that my Army ROTC instructor was CPT Steve R. comb. I saw him in Iraq in 2005. He was then three star LTG Whitcomb commander of the Third Army. It was great to see him. I as well saw him again in Kuwait of 2007. He was still the Tird Army Commander/ARCENT. He is retiring in 2008 I think. I received my masters in teaching in 1999 from the Citadel. I loved the Citadel so much I became a Life Alumni. I spent 19 years in Charleston, SC. I am currently working on another Masters in Logistics and Transportation. I guess I love learning. I will eventually get an MBA and Doctorate. Workplace I am currently moving to Yokohama, Japan. I will be the executive officer XO for the 836th Transportation Battalion, for the Surface Deployment Distribution Command as a Liason Officer to the US SOUTHERN COMMAND, Miami, Florida. Prior to that I was located for SDDC in Kuwait for six months, where I was fortunate enough to visit Jordan, Bahrain and Iraq again. In Miami, Florida for 1.5 years, the job was great and led me to TDY tours in Panama, Belize, and Ecuador thus far. I tryied to learn Espanol. Gracias! Military I joined the military at the ripe age of 17. I enlisted went to basic training and AIT and came back to my reserve unit. I went to college joined ROTC and was commission a 2LT in the US Army Reserves at the young age of 19. I have been in the Army Reserves, my entire career. I have 22 years now. I had an unfortunate break in service for six years, but I am now back in as a Major and plan on staying in till I am a Colonel. I love the Army and I love my country. God Bless America!! Hoooahh!!
