Dean's Story
Life
Graduated from Brigham Young Univ. 1973.
Married girl from Texas, Jan (Jan and Dean...get it?). Have three children: Mark, Sarah and Annie (all married) and six grandchildren. Worked as Human Resources Manager for BP (oil company) and for Amoco prior to merger with BP. Lived in Washington DC, Denver, Chicago, Tulsa, New Orleans, Houston and Bellingham, WA (north of Seattle). Relocated back to the Houston area in place called Cinco Ranch...closer to family members. Retired from BP, bought a new Corvette and promptly took a 30 day road trip. Currently working as a consultant between rounds of golf and travelling...
Recently celebrated the third birthday of our fifth grandchild...a sweet little girl named Lila. May not seem extraordinary but more than 18 months ago she was diagnosed with a malignant brain tumor, underwent two brain surgeries, chemo therapy and a stem cell transplant procedure. She is now doing great and that makes her 3 year birthday very special...at least to us.

job that was part of the oil spill response in Lousiana. I was the BP liaison between the company operations and the parish (county) government. It was an adventure.
I was diagnosed with lymphoma about six months ago. Underwent a series of chemo therapy treatments. Recently got a clean bill of health from my oncologist. Great news. Still have some follow up to do but I am doing well. Took a week in Hawaii to celebrate.
Decided to leave Texas and move to Idaho. Now living in Twin Falls near the canyon rim not far away from a couple of golf courses.
We are back in Houston. Unfortunately I had a recurrence of lymphoma. Got initial treatment in Idaho and then went to Houston for a stem cell replacement procedure. Had some complications and ended up spending 60+ days in the hospital. Recently got a positive report from the doctor but I am working on regaining my strength and stamina after the extended time in the hospital. Looking forward to getting back to the golf course and normal activity levels.
